Restoring ME through fiber, creating a series of passage quilts
This shop item is for a workshop that is a companion offering to the guest lecture.
The workshop is a 6-hour class helping students create their own art quilts that tell their stories, with a 2-hour followup meeting via zoom to discuss progress and share results with the class. I encourage using scraps, orphan blocks, and free or found materials. We discuss focusing on a theme and color palette, the various ways to add words, and how words have weight in a quilt and must be chosen selectively. I share my process for creating a larger piece from orphan blocks and how to sketch and layout a quilt that offers your message.
The base fee is $325 for a six-hour workshop engagement offered only online at this time, via Zoom or your preferred online meeting service. Through my quilting practice, I have created a style of art quilts that tell a story. I share my process of creation from idea conception, sketching, research, and resourcing materials to create my pieces.
I love teaching and offer this workshop on a sliding scale basis; please feel free to reach out to me if your group would like to host a workshop via Zoom online. I also offer a companion guest lecture to guide folks on creating their own quilts that tell a story.
My working presentation title is: Stitching my way through, a talk on creating a series of art quilts that restore my peace.
